Don't Step On a Bee Day

On July 10th each year, take time to discuss the importance of bees. Bee pollination accounts for nearly 1/3 of the world's foods that are produced; and without the hard work from bees, we would not be able to enjoy the fruits and vegetables served to us daily.

In order for bee pollination to happen, we must save the bees. This process will require gardening and garden maintenance. Bees need the pollen and nectar from certain plants to survive; so, to save the bees, we must protect the plants and keep them away from hungry deer and bears wanting to taste fresh honey.

The next time you consider swatting away a bee, or stepping on a bee, think again; and do your part to save the bees.

Ways to get involved in bee protection:

  • Start a bee farm (you'll need deer fencing)
  • Plant for bee pollination
  • Spread the word about the buzz about bees
