Eating Chicken With Lyme Disease

Remember Mad Cow Disease? People want to know what will happen to them if they consume chicken that eat ticks with Lyme Disease.

The jury is still out on this one.

While we know that backyard chickens eat ticks, researchers aren't sure whether or not chickens that have ingested the Lyme bacterium will transfer the disease over to humans.

In theory, we should not be eating raw meat nor raw eggs; so, this really shouldn't be a concern to us...right? And, there isn't much research to suggest that animals can pass Lyme Disease to humans, at all.

Backyard chicken owners will need to keep watch on their pets to see if they are acting funny. And, unfortunately for us, we won't know if a chicken has eaten a tick with Lyme. We just need to avoid raw poultry goods.
