Protect Gardens This New Year

Let's recap what went down in 2018: You watched your crops get eaten, and your garden get beaten down and destroyed, all thanks to white-tailed deer. Now that it's 2019, the buck stops now.

It's time for gardeners to get serious about deer management and add 'Garden Protection' to New Year's Resolution lists. The most effective means for deer control in gardens is deer fencing; and fencing should be installed now.

Most gardeners will say "why install now with all the snow on the ground;" but what they don't realize is that without fencing, deer will form paths to landscapes and will learn where the home gardens are located. They will prepare their minds for spring and will be ready to eat fresh fruits and veggies at that time.

Winter is the best time of year to install deer fencing to block deer from landscapes. Deer fencing should be at least 7.5 feet tall for best results to stop deer and other small critters from gardens.

It's a new year; but deer damage in gardens remains. Stop it now in winter 2019.
