Coyote Mating Season Begins

After deer mating takes place, coyote mating season begins.

Coyotes mate from late December through March with coyote pups being brought into the world early Spring (late March and April). Coyote pups usually stay with their parents until winter when they become ready to fend for themselves in search of food. This is when they venture onto home properties and can cause agriculture damage as well as potential attacks on domestic pets including small dogs, cats and backyard chickens.

To rid coyotes from lawns and gardens homeowners can install a metal fence with PVC coating that is at least 6 feet tall. Fence is the best coyote management solution for keeping them away from gardens and both children and pets.
