Steel Core tension wire is the stronger big brother of 8 ga and 12 ga monofilament wire. Steel core tension cable should be considered when installing deer fence for homeowners that live in windy areas with trees where tree branches and flying debris may be problematic.
Steel core tension wire is made of an 8 gauge steel that is then PVC-coated to increase longevity and protect the fence tensioning from weather elements. Additionally, the PVC-coating acts as a secondary layer of protection against chew marks from deer and small critters.
If basic tension wire is a concern, consider installing steel core tension wire at the top, middle or bottom of the deer fence for additional support to safeguard farms and gardens.
