Don't Remove Ticks With Fingers!

Seeing an embedded tick in the skin puts a person in panic mode. But, before clawing at the tick and picking it off with fingers, think about the consequences.

Using fingers to remove an embedded tick may lead to potential tick infection if the tick is carrying Lyme Disease or other tick disease. If the tick breaks off, the spread of the disease can enter into the bloodstream of the person or pet.

The best thing a person can do for tick management is to use a tick removal tool that will ensure that all parts of the tick are removed. Burning the skin with lighter fluid; using finger nail polish or other methods for removing a tick are not as effective and will increase the chance of tick infection.
