Homemade Tick Repellents

Spring and summer are the two seasons where outdoor enthusiasts see ticks most often; and that is why we need to always check ourselves, children and pets for tick bites after outdoor activities. If you are a DIY'er who wants to make their own homemade tick spray, use this recipe to say goodbye to ticks:

Tick Spray Recipe:

Add 1 cup of water to a spray bottle, followed by 2 cups of distilled white vinegar. Then, add two spoonfuls of vegetable or almond oil, which both contain sulfur (another natural tick repellent).

Ticks hate the smell and taste of vinegar; and this will repel ticks by itself.

To use baking soda as a tick repellent, you should mix a half teaspoon of baking soda and some salt. Then, add this dry mixture to four ounces of apple cider vinegar. Pour it in a spray bottle and then spray it directly on your pets.
Other essential oils used to repel ticks include:
  • Lavender
  • Cedarwood
  • Geranium
  • Lemongrass
