Plant Perennial Herbs Now

Posted on April 09 2018

April is the best time of year to plant perennial herbs such as thyme, oregano, mint, chives, sage and lavender. Not only can growers use these herbs in cooking recipes, but they can use them for deer-resistance. These types of plants are great for keeping deer out of gardens since deer hate the taste and smell of them!

These plants require a sunny spot for growing outdoors, in dry conditions, with 6-8 hours of direct daylight. Semi-frozen spots that are moist will not do. Be careful not to over-water these plants - remember, too much moisture is a bad thing for these plants.

This garden month, begin planting herbs to keep wildlife away while planting geraniums and other springtime flowers.
