Raking Leaves In Fall

Fall is a beautiful time of year when the leaves change; however by November, those beautiful leaves fall down and turn into crunchy messes in yards. Part of November home tasks is to rake leaves. Here are a few things you should know.

Raking leaves is an easy lawn care task for all levels of homeowners and is a must for keeping a clean landscape appearance. Raking leaves can be used for compost and can reduce the amount of ticks in the yard as they hide underneath them for insulation and shelter.

Here are tips for homeowners to make raking leaves an easy task:

  • Shred leaves with a lawn mower once the grass is done growing for the year.
  • Rake with the wind and rake downward. Don't make things harder on yourself trying to fight the wind gusts.
  • Pull leaves toward you as you rake. This will keep the pile flowing.
  • Place leaf piles in a heavy duty trash bag.

Raking leaves is an important homeowner task in November to prevent tick diseases and to clean-up the look of the lawn for the remainder of the season.
