Types Of Deer Fence

Homeowners that have done their research may have noticed that there are many different types of fence on the market - but not all are meant to be used as a deer fence.

Chain-Link Fences corrode in time and look hideous in a yard. While they are affordable for homeowners, they cheapen the look of landscapes and are a pain to install.

Plastic Deer Fence is meant for light to moderate deer pressure. This fence material is not chew-proof; but will last in the garden for 10-15 years. It can be used as a dog fence to secure small or calm dogs, as a bonus.

PVC-coated metal deer fence is different than regular wire fence. The PVC-coating not only protects steel from chewing animals, but it also keeps the metal fence material strong against environmental factors such as heat exposure, rain and snow. Metal deer fencing should be used for deer, rabbit, ground hog or squirrel control.

Like plastic deer fencing, steel fences can be used to secure large dogs that chew and dig. This type of material will last 20-30 years.

These fences are humane for pets and will protect them from wildlife that may be carrying tick-borne diseases such as Lyme Diseases. The use of a deer fence reduces the risk of Lyme Disease by 97 percent and will look good in the yard thanks to its virtual invisibility.
